Letterpress is a centuries old artisanal printing technique in which a raised plate or metal or wood type is inked then pressed into paper. Each piece of paper is hand-fed and printed one at a time and one color at a time. Each printed piece is unique and beautiful in its simplicity. It is a one-of-a-kind experience to see the bright colors pop and feel the impression on soft, tree-free paper. Each piece of paper is hand-fed one-by-one and one color at a time. Due to the inherent nature of letterpress, subtle variations will occur in ink coverage, color, impression, position, and cotton paper, and no two pieces will be completely the same. The outcome, however, is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece of artwork and one of the many reasons individuals specifically seek-out letterpress.
Parrott Design Studio is home to two antique Golding Jobber presses from 1898 and 1901. Over 3,000 pounds of cast iron is a thing of beauty!
